An Extra Plate at the Table: Marcia Gooch Receives the 2026 Knight of the Realm Award

Caterer, photo-experience entrepreneur and community connector, Marcia Gooch learned from her godmother that service isn't a grand gesture. It's a habit.

When Marcia Gooch was growing up, her godmother always set an extra plate at the table, just in case someone needed it.

"No announcement, no expectation of thanks," Marcia remembers. "I realized then that service isn't a grand gesture. It's making room for others as a habit."

That habit is the heart of everything Marcia does today. On November 14 at Knights, Crowns & Community, For One Child Foundation will honor her with the 2026 Knight of the Realm Award.

Bringing People Together

Marcia runs Palate Paradise Catering and Marcia's Elegant LED Rental Logistics, offering catering and photo experiences for events. She started her business for one reason: she loves bringing people together.

"I believe the best moments in life deserve to be remembered and shared around a table," she says, "whether through a beautifully prepared meal or a photo that makes everyone laugh."

What matters most to her is the people behind every event: treating each client like family, delivering with care and integrity, and making sure every guest leaves feeling welcome. "I'm happiest when I see a room full of smiles and know I helped create that."

A Business That Gives Back

For Marcia, giving back is part of the business model. "Food and celebration bring people together, so I try to use my business to support the community that supports me."

That might mean providing food for youth programs, bringing a photo booth to school events, or simply showing kids what hard work and service look like.

"Children are the heart of our community's future, and I'm passionate about investing in them early," she says. "Young people are open and eager to learn, and the encouragement they receive now can shape who they become. Every child deserves to feel valued, capable, and supported."

Built in the Small Moments

Marcia knows community isn't built in the big, visible moments. "It's built in the small, consistent ones. I remember what it felt like to be on the receiving end of someone's kindness, and I want to be that for someone else."

She connected with For One Child through Founder Racquel "Rocky" Knight and her vision. Her favorite part of the journey? "Watching the progression of For One Child!"

Off the Clock

  • Surprising fact: "I can't dance!"
  • Where you'll find her: Learning more about photography.
  • Her flowers go to: Her mother and her godmother, who always encouraged her "to be strong in the Lord, and the rest will follow!"
"Trust yourself. Your instincts are stronger than your doubts." — Marcia's guiding words

Her Advice

"Volunteer for nonprofit organizations." Start there, and let the habit grow.

What This Honor Means

"Being recognized by an organization dedicated to children is both humbling and inspiring, and I accept it with gratitude and a renewed commitment to serve."

The Legacy She's Building

"A community where children feel valued, capable, and cared for, and where the people who helped raise them are inspired to pass that kindness on."

We'll celebrate Marcia at Knights, Crowns & Community on Saturday, November 14, 2026. Thank you to everyone joining us for a sold-out evening honoring the people investing in the next generation.
